Gokey's "Dream On" was more like something out of the pits of Hell. Face it, most Christian music is boring, even the so-called hard rock versions of it. You can be Christian like Bono, make good music and not rub everybody's face with your beliefs (Bono has become something of a saint, but he's never played the Christian card). Kris accomplished this and earned people's respect. Had I been in Gokey's situation, with a loved one recently gone, I would never have mentioned it in my bio. Or, if it was the A. Idol people that took the dead-wife ball and ran with it, had I been Gokey, I would have told them to stop it. As in the case of the Olympics up-close-and-personal sob stories, most of us are turned off by the constant milking of peoples' misfortunes, no matter how heroic the triumphs to overcome them may be. There's only so much of this one can take. As for the damn Kara song, why do they even have to have one of these dreck-filled compositions in the first place? Let them finish the competition with three songs of their choice and work out the first single once they've won the thing. It's anticlimactic to hear them sing stuff they've already done and then have to try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear with some trite pop drivel. (Actually, that's an insult to sows everywhere. They've taken enough of a beating with the stigma of swine flu.) Both Adam and Kris deserve credit for even trying to get through that awful "No Boundaries." There really should be no boundaries as to what they get to sing on their final night. That should be the time when they are allowed to let their creativity go wild and give us a show to remember. And then they end it with Carrie Underwhelming Underwood, of all things. (Yes, Bo was infinitely better but didn't fit the packaged commercial mold like Carrie and her fake country music.) I really don't care who wins tonight. I like them both. That's the first time I've been watching this stupid show where I can honestly say I like the singers in the top two.
